Thomas Rhett took part in sports history over the weekend when he performed at the $12 million inaugural Pegasus World Cup horse racing event. On Saturday (Jan. 28), the singer took the stage at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Fla., to play his current single,"Star of the Show," before the big race.

Rhett's three-minute performance of his new single took place on a stage built in front of the race track before the Pegasus World Cup Invitational. While his band donned white dress shirts and ties, Rhett stood out in a blue button down as he soulfully sang about the star in his life -- his wife, Lauren.

“'Star of the Show' is one of those songs that I have lived with for a while and kept coming up as a song we needed to record and get to the fans," Rhett said in a press release announcing his new single. “I wrote it with my dad right after I got married, and it was the first song I ever wrote about Lauren. It was a staple in our set before we had any hits and fans still request it to this day."

The song appears on Rhett's deluxe reissue of his latest album Tangled Up. Also featured are reworkings of his previous songs as well as a few new tracks.

Rhett will be performing many of the songs off his last album on his upcoming 2017 Home Team Tour. The singer will be hitting the road with Kelsea Ballerini, Russell Dickerson and Ryan Hurd as support acts. The tour kicks off Feb. 23.
