Mark Wilson, a native of Great Falls, has a deep-rooted connection to the world of country music. His early exposure came through his father, who was a morning radio host on KMON AM. Mark's childhood home was filled with the sounds of his dad's band practicing for their weekend gigs. One of the pivotal moments in Mark's life was attending the State Fair in Great Falls in 1971. His father served as the emcee for all the concerts, granting Mark the opportunity to enjoy front-row seats for performances by artists like Anne Murray, Glen Campbell, and the Carpenters. After high school, Mark embarked on his own journey in radio. He initiated his career at KMON Great Falls and transitioned to KYSS-FM in Missoula during his college years. His dedication to the radio industry led him to work for KGVO in Missoula and later KYSN-FM in East Wenatchee, Washington. In March 1988, Mark Wilson moved to Billings when Citadel Communications acquired the 102.9 FM and AM970 signals, launching the iconic Cat Country. Since then, he has been an integral part of the Cat Country team. Beyond his passion for radio, Mark enjoys his leisure time playing golf and racquetball, even though he admits that his skills in both sports are a work in progress.

Friday Fragments
The video of the tumbleweeds stacked roof high in Great Falls made national news. If you haven't seen it, it's on my Facebook page.
It was announced this week that Dolly Parton will be playing the halftime show during the Dallas Cowboys game on Thanksgiving day...
Things Music Critics Say
A music critic took a shot at Luke Bryan for his performance in Minneapolis this last weekend. He implied that Luke was "just phoning it in". He said that Luke didn't put forth the effort like he did years ago.
Well, first off, I haven't heard from a music critic in a dozen years. Locally,...
A New Way To Board
American Airlines is going to experiment with a new way to board passengers on large aircraft. Currently, they board by zone. "Now boarding zone one". I have never really understood what the zones were, so it was kind of handy to have it printed on my ticket...
How Many People Live In Their Hometown?
As we get closer to not working on the radio, I've begun to think about where I might live. That made me curious as to how many people live in the town or area where they were born. For the purposes of this article, if you were born in Warden or Broadview, we'll just say that you were born here...
The Increased Cost of Drinks At Concerts
Not that I was going in the first place, but I thought I'd check prices. The rock band U2 is performing at The Sphere in Las Vegas. The Sphere is a new entertainment complex that is all the rage on social media right now.
They put their drinks menu along with the cost of them all...

Local Law Enforcement Needs Play By Play
Let me start by saying: that what I'm going to propose here will never happen. It just sort of struck me as funny when I thought about it.
By now everybody in town knows about the major gathering of law enforcement and the closing of Highway 312 on Monday...
Whiskey & Music
I was looking through our music library on our computers this morning when I ran across the word whiskey. And there are an awful lot of songs about that type of booze. I seem to remember when I was a kid that most "whiskey songs" were sad. You can still get some of that with " Whiskey Lullaby" or Stapelton's "Tennessee Whiskey"...
Hey, Could You Guys Play A Song For Me?
We actually had a request for a song this morning! That got me thinking about how local radio has changed through the years. It used to be easy. You call your favorite local radio station and ask them to play your song and they did. Now, a lot of stations are run by satellite from someplace else, so that's not an option...
