The Flakes opposition to tax payer funded bike trails is well documented.  It's not that Mark and Paul dislike bike riders, they just don't want to pay to build and maintain miles of trails that a small percentage of the public will use.

But since the city decided to build the trails, is it too much to ask for the bike riders to actually stay on them?  This week, Paul was driving on 87 north of town when he had to swerve to avoid a guy who was riding his bike in the highway lane while cars were whizzing by at 75 miles per hour.  There was plenty of room on the side of the road, but this rider was hell bent on exercising their rights in the fast lane.

In the Flakes opinion, that attitude of entitlement is both arrogant and dangerous.  As much as we enjoy giving bicycle enthusiasts a hard time, we don't want them to get hurt.  And even though it may be legal to ride a bike on a highway, that doesn't mean you should.
