Billings: City Of All-Stars!

Okay the title of my post might be a little misleading but I’m going overboard to congratulate former Billings Mustang and current Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Edwin Encarnacion who was selected to play for the American League in tomorrow nights’ MLB All-Star game. Unfortunately Encarnacion, who played 52 games for Billings back in 2001, is injured and sitting this one out.

Billings has had it’s very small share of major leaguers over the years, the most notable of which is retired lefty Jeff Ballard who was born and raised in Billings who took the mound for the Orioles and Pirates over an 8 year career and is enshrined in the Stanford University Athletic Hall of Fame.
