Carrie Underwood has performed Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You” on numerous occasions, but it was really special this time. Underwood stopped by the Bobby Bones radio show during their “Joy Week” and covered the song once again, but in a more intimate setting than her performances on tour, which allowed her to fully show off her vocal abilities.

Accompanied by a single acoustic guitar, Underwood begins the song with an ethereal lightness to her voice, lilting over the runs in the higher register and pouring true emotion into the ballad. She doesn’t skip out on the powerful notes later on, though, as she puts her signature vocal chops behind the classic melody. The “Heartbeat” singer’s voice floats over the last lines, wrapping it up in a beautiful set of notes that will stick with listeners after the video ends.

Underwood has performed the song with Parton herself before in 2011, and she has been including it on her Storyteller Tour as part of her set. The sold-out tour kicked off in late January and runs through the end of May 2016, featuring Easton Corbin and the Swon Brothers as openers. In addition to Underwood’s Parton cover, the quartet of tourmates teamed up to perform a toe-tapping cover of Nitty Gritty Dirt Band’s “Fishin’ in the Dark” together.

The superstar recently hit No. 1 with her single “Smoke Break,” the lead-off track from her Storyteller album, which she co-wrote. On top of that professional milestone, she also recently celebrated a personal one on Feb. 27 with her son's first birthday.
