This morning, the Breakfast Flakes expressed their disdain for the growing number of country artists who crossover to the pop music world in order to sell records.  Kenny Rogers, who was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame this weekend, was one of the first artists to go mainstream.  The difference between Kenny Rogers and today's generation of pop country stars is the current trend for artists to record different versions of the same song marketed at different audiences.

The Flakes don't begrudge musicians for trying to reach a wider audience or sell more records, but they do believe that real country artists have more "song integrity".  If a true country artist records a song that crosses over, that's fine.  But when you record a "pop version" of the same song, you have officially sold out.  At the risk of sounding like an grumpy old man, Mark summed up the conversation by saying, "GET THAT CRAP OFF MY RADIO STATION!!!!!".
