Happy Halloween from Mark, Paul and everyone here at Cat Country 102.9.  Make sure you go out and spend a lot of money.  Today, the Flakes read a new report that says Halloween is now the second biggest holiday of the entire year for consumer spending, behind Christmas.

When you add up costumes, candy, decorations, pumpkins, parties, haunted houses, and various activities, Americans are expected to spend over $8 billion this year.  Economists credit the rising popularity of Halloween among adults for the increase in spending.

When it comes to wasting money, Paul thinks Halloween is the only day that rivals Valentine's Day.  In Mark's opinion, at least Halloween a drinking holiday, so it can't be all bad.
