‘Hannibal’ Season 2 Premiere Sneak Peek: “Kaiseki” Puts Will in the Past Tense
At long last, we’re just over a week away from the season 2 premiere of NBC’s darkly delicious prequel drama ‘Hannibal,’ But the Bryan Fuller-crafted series has never been one to lack in appetizers. Get your first taste of the February 27 premiere “Kaiseki” with the first clip of the new season between Hannibal (Mads Mikkelsen) and Jack (Laurence Fishburne), ominously referring to Will in the past tense!
Via TVLine, we’re reasonably certain that poor Will Graham hasn’t been executed just yet, though you might not know it from the above “Kaiseki,” clip wherein Jack and Hannibal talk about Will’s life over dinner, as if the judgement has already come to pass. Hannibal admits that the FBI should investigate Will’s claims against him for their own best interest, but could Jack end up looking too deeply into Hannibal, given the bloody showdown we’ve seen in the trailers?
Also of note are the neat reference to Hannibal’s backstory in both the Japanese episode titles, and the Lady Murasaki namedrop! Could other ‘Hannibal’ flashback surprises be in store for later in the season?
Elsewhere, series creator Bryan Fuller has confirmed Raul Esparza’s return to ‘Hannibal’ season 2 as Dr. Frederick Chilton, while ‘X-Files‘ vet Gillian Anderson will reprise her role as Hannibal’s therapist Dr. Bedelia Du Maurier, as will Eddie Izzard as Dr. Abel Gideon, along with confirmed season 2 roles for ‘Sex and the City’ vet Cynthia Nixon and ‘Homeland‘ player Martin Donovan.
Also on deck for the season are ‘Justified‘ Emmy-winner Jeremy Davies portraying an animal rescue worker accused of murder, with ‘Arrested Development‘ star Chris Diamantopoulos as his social-worker. But perhaps most excitingly of all however, ‘Boardwalk Empire‘ alum Michael Pitt will play iconic literary Hannibal villain Mason Verger, with ‘Being Human‘ star Katharine Isabelle as his tortured sister Margot.
‘Hannibal’ season 2 is on the tip of our collective tongues, so check out the first sneak peek above, and tell us what you want to see from the February 27 premiere in the comments!
