A common misconception is that if you have a messy desk, you are a disorganized wreck and a horrible worker. I don't buy it.

And neither did Albert Einstein or Thomas Edison. Both were notoriously messy desk dudes. And they seemed to get plenty of stuff done.  You should see one of my co-workers desks... she has about 200 sticky notes covering nearly every vertical surface.  Piles and piles of papers, with no apparent rule on what goes where.  But when I come to her desk and ask for something, she always knows where it is.  Crazy.

Even science agrees, according to research done at the University of Minnesota. So take that, you clean freaks.  Mine is generally somewhat cluttered.  I do try to clean it up a little on Friday afternoon. It's nice to start the week with a clean slate.
