The Montana Brewers Association held their 2nd annual Montana Brewers Spring Festival last night at Metra Park. Last years festival, which was a huge success, was held at the Billings Depot and judging by the size of the crowd moving it to the bigger Montana Pavilion at the Metra was wise because by the time I left just before 9 the place was packed.

My favorite brew came courtesy of Great Falls Bowser Brewing Company... it was their Vanilla Bourbon Stout and at 14% alcohol packed a hard punch to go along with its smooth sweetness. Enjoy but beware because one glass will knock you on your butt.

Next was Belgrade's Outlaw Brewing and their smooth sipping Irish Cream Ale at a (pedestrian by microbrew standards) 5% alcohol.

And last but not least my 3rd favorite was the Red Dread Imperial Red IPA from Bitter Root Brewing in tiny Hamilton... which is pretty much known for its two breweries. I'm not normally a fan of IPA's because of their bitterness but either this one is exceptionally well crafted OR my pallette was already blunted by the time I sampled this masterpiece... probably a little of both.
