One Line Monday: On a Scale of 1 to 10, How Would You Rate the Average American Citizen?

For this week's One Line Monday topic, the Flakes wanted to know how you would rate the average American citizen's aptitude on a scale of 1 to 10.  Based on the calls we got, the grades weren't good.

It all started when Paul told the story about going out to dinner on Saturday night.  The meal was great and the service was excellent.  There was only one problem.  Paul couldn't believe the appearance and behavior of the people who were around him.

While Paul might be turning into a grumpy old curmudgeon, he's not the only one losing faith in our fellow citizens.  We took calls all morning and the highest rating we heard was a 4.

For the record, Paul now grades the average citizen's intellect at a 2.5.  However, after hearing the news this morning, one guy called back to change his answer from a 2.5 to a 1.5.

Maybe it's just us, but we are convinced that our society as a whole is getting dumber by the minute.  And don't even get us started on the way people behave these days.  Especially young people. Of course, as Cat Country listeners and loyal Flakes fans, you guys are setting the curve.  If it weren't for the hard working, tax paying, law abiding citizens like you, God only knows what kind of trouble our country would be in.
