Legal issues continue to plague country legend Randy Travis. Elizabeth Travis — the singer’s ex-wife and manager — filed a lawsuit last Thursday (April 5) alleging breach of contract in matters pertaining to their post-divorce agreement.

The Nashville Business Journal initially reported the story, while the Boot reported that the singer has issued a response in his defense. “It is unfortunate that it’s come to this. We believe the lawsuit lacks merit and that we have legal defenses to her claims,” Travis’ publicist said.

Elizabeth and Randy were married in 1991, but their relationship goes back over 30 years to before his professional singing days. They divorced in 2010, and Elizabeth Travis’s lawsuit alleges that Randy and his attorneys terminated their divorce agreement without written notice. According to the report, she believes Travis “intentionally interfered with” her right to do her job and also impaired the “effectiveness of (his) career in the entertainment industry.”

Travis “had a large truck, an armed guard and several other men” appear at her Nashville office, the NBJ states. The men removed “practically all of the property and business records,” from the office, including computers and framed record plaques.

The amount of money Elizabeth Travis is seeking was not specified. The lawsuit comes just over two months after Travis was arrested for public intoxication by police in Sanger, Texas. He was found sitting alone in his car, after having an argument with his girlfriend following the Superbowl.
