The Dixie Chicks have agreed to a couple of rare live appearances this summer, but that doesn't necessarily mean the Texas-based trio are gearing up for a full-fledged album and tour. In a new interview, singer Natalie Maines expresses uncertainty about the future of the Grammy-winning act.

It's been quite a while since country music fans have heard new material from the Dixie Chicks, but that isn't going to stop the trio's lead singer Natalie Maines from singing. Maines has finished recording her first solo album, which will hit store shelves and digital retailers this spring.

In a surprise move, the Dixie Chicks have announced a rare public appearance. The Texas trio have been confirmed as the new Saturday night headlining act for the 2013 Craven Country Jamboree, which takes place from July 11-14 in Craven, Saskatchewan.

The Dixie Chicks were already flying high following the massive commercial success of their first two major label albums, when the Texas-based trio released their highly-anticipated third record. ‘Home,’ which hit store shelves on August 27, 2002, fell under the Chicks’ label imprint, Wide Open/Columbia Records.

Dixie Chicks lead singer Natalie Maines made a special appearance at Ben Harper’s Los Angeles concert on June 30, joining the rocker onstage to perform the Pink Floyd classic ‘Mother.’

The Dixie Chicks released their ‘Storytellers’ DVD last month, featuring 11 intimate VH1 performances from 2006. Aside from a documentary and the Emily Robison and Martie Maguire duo Courtyard Hounds, fans haven’t heart much from the group as a trio since that show in Los Angeles. Robison says she’s hoping that changes.
