Keith Urban‘s fans may have been disappointed when the ‘For You’ singer had to postpone his annual All for the Hall benefit concert due to vocal cord surgery. Though the concert was originally set to take place mid-January, Urban’s vocal rest caused him to reschedule the annual Country Music Hall of Fame fundraiser for tonight, April 10. And while fans had to wait three months for the event, Urban went out of his way this morning to make it well worth their while.

Today (March 6), the Country Music Association announced that Garth Brooks will become one of the newest members of the Country Music Hall of Fame, along with keyboardist Hargus “Pigg” Robbins and singer Connie Smith. It comes as no surprise, of course, that this once-in-a-lifetime honor is being bestowed upon the record-setting, hit-spreading country king.

Sunday evening (October 16), the best of the best in Nashville’s songwriting community gathered at the Renaissance Hotel in the heart of Music City, where dozens of tunesmiths were recognized at the 41st Anniversary Hall of Fame Dinner and Induction Ceremony. The top honors at the invite-only event went to Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, John Bettis, Thom Schuyler and Allen Shamblin, who were all inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Brooks and Jackson are two of this year’s inductees in the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, along with John Bettis, Thom Schuyler and Allen Shamblin. The five will be honored with a dinner and ceremony in October.
