Today, Mark and Paul talked about the high school football game in Texas where the #1 ranked team in the state defeated their opponent 91-0.  Now, the mother of a kid from the losing team is accusing the winning coach of "bullying".  For his part, the winning coach pulled his starters at half time and did his best not to run up the score.  The losing coach admitted that his team wasn't "bullied", they're just not very good. However, the school district has launched an "investigation" and the coach could be required to enroll in "sensitivity training".

For the Breakfast Flakes, this is just another example of the "wussification" of America.  If you've ever coached kids, or even watched your own kids play sports, you've probably seen at least one game where one team was just better than their opponents.  Do you tell the backups to stop trying?  Back the good ole days, kids were coached to always give 100%.  Nowadays, that's bullying.  Well, no high school athlete ever got a college scholarship for being polite.

As long as you have smart kids, bullying will always exist.  And while nobody is in favor of bullying, this new trend is actually discouraging achievement.  Winning should be encouraged, even when your opponent stinks.
