The sports world is still buzzing about the NBA's attempt to ban Clippers owner Donald Sterling for life after racist remarks he had made surfaced last week.  Here's Mark and Paul's take on the story.

First off, this guy is racist slumlord who deserves everything he gets.  Not just for being a racist, but for being dumb enough to make those comments, even privately.  If you are running a business, you'd better watch what you say.

However, this opens up an interesting can of worms.  Can the NBA really force an owner to sell his team for private remarks he made that were illegally recorded?  This sets a dangerous precedent.  We're not sure if the NBA's decision to force a sale will stand up legally, but we do know this.  It won't be the last time the NBA deals with this problem.

Furthermore, we've seen sports leagues respond to racist comments differently.  In the NFL, a racist comment costs you 15 yards.  In the NBA, it gets you banned for life.  Of course, owners are subjected to a higher standard than the players.  However, when Philadelphia Eagles Receiver Riley Cooper dropped the N-bomb last year, he still played.  Maybe the punishment depends on how much the team needs you on the field or court.  Especially if your salary counts against the cap.

Mark and Paul have a philosophy about racism.  Why would you hate a person based on the color of their skin when there's so many other good reasons to hate people?
