The Next President? Country Stars Decide
When deciding who should be America's next president, country music's biggest stars went off ballot. Instead of voting for Donald or Hillary, stars like Thomas Rhett and Lee Brice picked Miranda, George and Carrie.
Much like the 2016 presidential election (the real one), there can only be one country music president. Taste of Country asked dozens of stars which artist would make the best president. Clay Walker may have had it right when he said none of them, but most felt there is a strong candidate out there. Willie Nelson was a popular answer. So were Luke Bryan and Garth Brooks.
But the winner of the popular vote was Dierks Bentley. Yep, stars felt Bentley's mix of level-headedness and spontaneity would be a good fit to run our country. The "Different for Girls" singer would certainly have the coolest Air Force One. After all, have you seen the music video for "Drunk on a Plane"?!
Blake Shelton was another popular choice, as were Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert and Trace Adkins. Justin Moore picked himself, admitting he's interested in politics and would consider running for office one day. After watching Monday night's presidential debates, he might be considering that option sooner than later!
Interviews were conducted at the 2016 ACM Awards in Las Vegas. Moore is one of a number of country artists who feels free to talk politics. It's been the topic of conversation lately, and the subject of Taste of Country's first Point/Counterpoint with our sister site, the Boot.
