Last night, Paul attended a high school basketball game and was shocked to see the way some people acted during the playing of the Star Spangled Banner.  It's not that they were blatantly disrespectful, but they didn't care about it, or it least they didn't act like they cared.  It felt as if they were completely indifferent to the meaning and importance of our National Anthem.

Which is a shame, especially when you consider what that song means and how lucky we all are to be Americans.  It's sad to see people, especially young people, taking our country for granted.

Of course, anyone who has served our country or has family members in the military can tell you how much the Star Spangled Banner means to them.  If only we all treated our national anthem with the same respect and reverence as they do.  Then maybe, just maybe, it would mean more than just some obligatory pre-game ritual.
