Planet of the Apes is about to unfold in real life.  This morning, the Flakes talked about the animal rights group seeking to obtain "legal personhood" status for chimpanzees.  The Non Human Rights Project recently filed a writ of habeas corpus on behalf of Tommy, a captive chimp in New York.

According to the filing, “this petition asks this court to issue a writ recognizing that Tommy is not a legal thing to be possessed by respondents, but rather is a cognitively complex autonomous legal person with the fundamental legal right not to be imprisoned."

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men (and possibly primates) are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

Mark and Paul believe that these animal rights activists need to watch "Planet of the Apes".  They contend that this is what the apes want.  Paul then suggested that Mark might be a member of the North American Primate Alliance and said, "take your stinking paws off me, you damned dirty ape".
