School District 2 is asking the public to help them name the new middle school in the Heights.  The Flakes have some better ideas.

The District is forming a "committee" to choose the school's name, mascot, logo and colors.  Of course, whenever a committee is involved, it's all about what they think, not what you think.  And you can bet the new school's name will be sensitive, caring, fair and equal to everyone.  The school will also have neutral colors and an environmentally friendly mascot.

Here's what they should do instead:

1.   Put it to a vote.  Have the committee recommend several names, mascots, logos and colors and let the community pick their favorite.

2.  Let the kids decide.  The sixth graders get to elect their own class president, why can't they pick their own school name?  We can picture it now, students would choose to name it Totally Awesome Middle School, their mascot would be a fire breathing Dragon and their colors would be electric lime and magenta.

3.  Let the Flakes handle it.  Mark and Paul Middle School kinda has a ring to it.  The Mascot could be a Cat and our colors would be gold, black and red.
