This morning, the Flakes learned about a very important safety recall.  The makers of Flushmate toilets are warning the public about exploding commodes.  The high pressure toilets, sold at Home Depot and Lowe's, have been shown to burst near the seem with enough force to shatter the toilet tank.

According the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the company is recalling over 350,000 of the Series 503 Flushmates now have been recalled due to flaws in the "pressure assist flushing system".

Luckily, no injuries have been reported as a result of the exploding toilet tanks.  But with so many flawed Flushmates out there, it's only a matter of time before someone's tank blows up.  If you have a Flushmate, the Flakes urge you to exercise caution. Series 503 Flushmate owners are encouraged to contact the store where they purchased the item or the manufacturer.

Update:  We just got an e-mail from a local store manager with more information on the Flushmate recall.  Rather than contacting the store, if Flushmate owners want to see if their unit is available for recall, they can either logon to www.flushmate.com/recall or call the recall hotline at (800) 303-5123.
