This morning I was walking downtown to get my iced mocha at the local independent coffee house on Broadway. I live on Montana Avenue so I usually cut through the Crowne Plaza where the studios are located as it's a little heat oasis on the way (especially on days like this when the temps are below zero). I couldn't cut through today because there was caution tape cordoning off the northwest part of the building due to a water main break.

Last night a maintenance man for the Crowne Plaza told me that our offices here on the 23rd floor were cold because the water they boil to create the heat in the tower wasn't even getting warm. Now we know that's because the pipes had frozen somewhere along the line, burst and created a huge mess as you can see in the picture above. Fans of independent coffee houses might muse that hell has finally frozen over. Lol.
