It’s a Sad Day When This Happens [Opinion]

It seems school shootings are happening more and more these days. It's a horrible thing to deal with. When I was a kid, we took guns to school but they were used to go hunting after we finished last period. not to kill each other.

It's sad that every time I get an alert on my phone from a news organization, I'm afraid that it is going to be another story about someone shooting up another school. My heart skips a beat because these have unfortunately become all to common.

What's even sadder is that we as parents have to take measures to protect our children in ways we never thought we would have to.

My wife came across this story about bulletproof blankets that are made specifically for school kids. They are being manufactured at a high rate and yes, I believe there should be one for every single child in every single school. As it is, they are defenseless without them if someone should start shooting at them.

There must be protection and there must be defense. School shootings won't end. It's a disturbing and horrible fact. They're not just happen in big cities. They can happen anywhere at anytime.

Our children need a fighting chance and I think these bulletproof blankets are a good start.
