When I was a kid it was a privilege to be able to go to the the drive-in movie in the summer.

I loved it and still do. When I was a kid they didn't have to radio signal yet. You had to pull up to the pole and put the speaker box in your window. It was awesome.

My wife and I got to thinking about that and decided it would be fun to give the kids a taste of something we grew up with. Going to the movie theater is one thing but the drive-in is a totally different experience.

I googled drive-in joints for Billings and only one came up. It's the Amusement Park Drive In just outside of Laurel.

It looks like a fun place to go to and they are open right now, according to their website.

I am not opposed to making a trip to Laurel to go see a movie by any means but thought a city the size of Billings would have a few of these drive-in movie theaters around.

I guess the whole idea of driving into a movie isn't as cool of an idea now as it was when I was growing up. Kind of sad if you think about it.

Regardless, I am still a fan and you will see my family sometime soon pulling in and gearing up for a good movie.
