Congratulations are in order for Thomas Rhett: His "Marry Me" music video, directed by TK McKamy, has taken home the title of Music Video of the Year at the 2018 CMA Awards!

Good Morning America hosts Lara Spencer and Adam Rippon revealed Rhett as the 2018 CMA Music Video of the Year winner on Wednesday morning (Nov. 14), ahead of the evening's awards ceremony. They were broadcasting live from the top of Dierks Bentley's Whiskey Row, a bar on Broadway in Nashville.

Rhett beat out fellow Music Video of the Year nominees Sugarland's "Babe", Carrie Underwood's  "Cry Pretty," Chris Janson's "Drunk Girl" and "Tequila" by Dan + Shay. This CMA honor is given to both the artist and the director of the winning project.

Rhett's "Marry Me" music video is just as heartbreaking -- and just as sweet -- as the song's lyrics suggest. Directed by McKamy and shot in Birmingham, Ala., and Nashville, the clip follows a pair of childhood friends; the two remain close friends in high school, and one night at a diner, they almost kiss -- but it doesn't happen.

As the "Marry Me" video progresses, that little girl -- now grown up -- gets engaged and prepares to walk down the aisle. Her childhood friend, now a young man, is there for it all, but he's clearly regretting not telling her how he feels. The clip will likely make its viewers a little teary-eyed -- but there's a surprising, and hope-filled, twist at the very end.
