Columbus Community Foundation to host 5th Annual ColumbusMTGives as online event May 4-8 and COVID Emergency Funds.

COLUMBUS | 4/13/2020 – The Columbus Community Foundation announces its participation in ColumbusMTGives 2020. This is a charitable giving event created to inspire people to support the local nonprofit organizations that make our community stronger and more vibrant. The Columbus Community Foundation is proud to participate in MTGives and is hosting ColumbusMTGives for the 5th year.  The following Columbus area nonprofits will participate:

  • Columbus Community Foundation
  • Columbus Senior Center
  • DSVS-Domestic & Sexual Violence Services
  • Granite Peak Little League
  • Kids Club
  • Kruizin’ 4 Seniors
  • Museum of the Beartooths
  • Project Hope
  • Special K Ranch
  • Stillwater 4H
  • Stillwater Valley Watershed Council
  • Stillwater Youth Center

The public is invited to visit www.ColumbusMTGives.org to donate and learn more about the nonprofits that are participating in 2020 ColumbusMTGives.  During the week of the event you can also drop off donations in the night drop at Yellowstone Bank in Columbus.

In response to COVID 19, the Foundation has decided to forego our donor lounge.  This giving event will be and online event only.

The Columbus Community Foundation has worked very hard to raise funds for a “match pool” from local businesses.  The match donations will be distributed to the participating non-profits based on a percentage of event total raised.  This is an amazing opportunity to provide additional incentive to potential donors, who will know their dollars go that much further to their chosen organizations.  A sincere THANK YOU to our amazing sponsors for their generous donations to Columbus MTGives: Sibanye Stillwater, First Interstate Bank, Yellowstone Bank, Northwestern Energy & Bryan Hess Farmers Insurance.

“A decision to proceed with the giving event was not an easy one.  After reaching out to our local Non-Profit Organizations, we decided to proceed as scheduled.  Many of them had to cancel or postpone fundraisers due to the current COVID 19 restrictions.  These NPO’s are the heart of our community, supporting our youth, our neighbors and elders.  We realize this year may not be as successful as past years, but we already had match funds secured.  We felt we needed to get that money in the hands of the NPO’s as soon as possible.”  said Amy Sjostrom, Columbus Community Foundation Treasurer.

The Foundation has an emergency fund and recently voted to provide weekly distributions to those in need.  Individuals, Families or NPO’s can make a request up to $250.  The request is anonymous and must be made by a local NPO or church.  If you choose to donate to the COVID Emergency Relief fund, we will increase either the amount or duration of these disbursements.  The request form can be found on our Facebook page.
