
Billings Shooting: Late-Night Gunfire Leads to Teen Suspect’s Arrest
If you were near 1st Avenue North last Thursday, you may have noticed flashing lights or heard sirens in the middle of the night, perhaps wondering what was happening. The Billings Police Department has now released information to update the community.
Shooting Reported and Victim Found
Just before midnight on February 19, police responded to the 3300 block of 1st Avenue North after reports of gunfire. Police report that when they got there, they found a 38-year-old woman with a gunshot wound. She was unresponsive at the scene and was quickly taken to a nearby hospital.
Suspect Identified and Pursued
Detectives say that their investigation into the shooting quickly pointed to a 17-year-old boy as the suspected shooter. Police say he drove away from the area, but officers tracked down the car not long after.

Suspect Apprehended Without Incident
Once police spotted the vehicle, they pulled it over and arrested the teenager without any trouble. He was taken to Youth Services and now faces two counts of attempted homicide for his alleged role in the shooting.
Investigation Is Continuing
The investigation isn’t over as police say the case remains active. More details may emerge as detectives continue their work. Such cases often require further review of evidence and coordination with other agencies before the full story is released to the public.

Billings Police thanked several local partners for their quick response, including the Yellowstone County Sheriff’s Office, Billings Fire Department, and AMR.
