Josh Abbott is hoping to lead by example, so he's giving back to teachers in his home state.

It all started with a campaign called Clear the List, launched by Courtney Jones, a teacher in Beaumont, Texas. Per Jones, public school teachers are often expected to use their own money to purchase classroom supplies — the campaign calls on various celebrities and the general population to help teachers purchase the necessary supplies for their students as they head into the school year.

When Abbott saw that a kindergarten teacher named Bree Zachary had tagged him in a tweet asking him to help her clear her Amazon Wishlist, he stepped in and bought everything that remained, which included letter-sized plastic envelopes, a multi-sensory play set and a Bee-Bot Robot.

"Bree, I just purchased your entire list. Should be delivered next week," Abbott told her via Twitter. "It’s important we all give back, and I want to lead by example! Have a great school year!"

The Texas country star also purchased all the major items from the wish list of another teacher named Brooke, urging fans to buy a series of books she needs, all priced under $10.

"I just want the world to know that Josh Abbott is truly what makes 'My Texas' an awesome place," Zachary writes in a gracious reply. "What an amazing guy to give back to a teacher for the benefit of her classroom that ultimately benefits children. Thank you Josh Abbott from the bottom of my heart."

Khloe Kardashian, along with Abbott's fellow country music-making Texans Casey Donahew and Wade Bowen, have also joined in on the movement, with Donahew starting a GoFundMe page to rally others to purchase supplies. At publishing time, he had helped raise $37,000 of the $50,000 goal.
