My wife went to the store mid day yesterday and as she was getting the kids out of the car, she noticed something...

In the car next to her there was a child in the vehicle that must have been between 2 and 3 years old. He was asleep and the car was running with the air conditioning apparently on. She immediately tried to get help from the store which in turn told her that he was fine because the doors were locked and it appeared he had air conditioning. It was at that time that this child woke up and started crying for his mother at which point the store personnel turned around and walked away saying that no law had been broken and they would not notify the police. (She didn't have a phone with her or she would have called) Does that mean it is ok for me to leave my 1 year old home alone because the house is locked? I don't think so!

This is the 4th time that either my wife or I have seen this happen at this particular store. The other three times were this past winter and the police were called. I wrote about it then too.

I honestly don't care if the doors were locked and he had AC! This child was left in a vehicle with no supervision. Anything could happen! Anyone could break the window, steal the car and kidnap the child! Or the child could wake up wondering what it would be like to drive a car and run over someone.

This is unacceptable in my book and I believe parents who do this should be held accountable for it!

If you are a parent who thinks this ok...I beg you to reconsider. It is only a matter of time before something very bad happens and you regret it. Don't leave them unattended even for a minute.
