This morning, the Flakes were talking about Wyoming's upcoming "Free Fishing Day" event and Paul found some incredible statistics about people who fish.

Did you know, over 35 million Americans like to fish.  That's nearly 10% of the entire population.  And the average fisherman (or woman) spends 16 days each year with their lines in the water.  We couldn't track down the specific numbers for Montana, but we'd bet it's even higher than the national average.

Mark and Paul think "Free Fishing Day" is something that our state should promote.  Especially with the complicated licensing system.  These days, you have to know what you're fishing for if you want to avoid a fine.

If you counted up all the revenue that fishing fines alone generate for local and state government agencies across the country, it would probably be in the hundreds of millions. That's almost as much money as Mark's spent on Bud Light during his many fishing trips. Sadly, Mark's far better at fishing than he is at catching.
