Using 33 different metrics including traffic, gas prices, number of attractions, quality of roads and the weather, Wallethub.com ranked the Best and Worst States for a Summer Road Trip.

If it was purely based on beauty of scenery, Big Sky country would never drop out of the top 5. But according to this study, Montana shows up near the bottom at #41. The Treasure State was 21st for Road Trip Costs, 38th for Safety, and 33rd for the number of activities.

This year, North Carolina took down Wyoming as the Best State for a summer road trip. Wyoming ranked at the top for road trip costs and lowest price of camping.
