Dolly Parton’s ’80s Home Is for Sale Again, But With a Twist [Pictures]
A nearly 5,000-square-foot Nashville home that Dolly Parton lived in for 16 years is for sale once again, this time marketed as having museum and wedding reception potential.
Memorabilia and music history entity Rockology, LLC is handling the sale of the house for an unknown price. Real estate websites like Zillow and Trulia show a lengthy price history for the home at 3146 Glencliff Rd. dating back to 2010 without a sale.
In May 2018, the four-bedroom, multiple structure property was removed from the market with an asking price of $875,000, down from a peak asking price of $1.2 million in 2017. Both websites show the last sale of the house was in 1996 for $140,000. Estimates on the property vary. A press release indicates Parton and her husband owned the home until 1996.
The main house (built in 1941) is 3,200 sq. ft., and while it was expanded several years ago, the stucco home maintains the same charm it had when Parton owned it. It sits on a wooded 2.4-acre property and includes amenities like an eat-in kitchen, carport, covered porch and patio, deck, a master bedroom with a walk-in closet, a great room large enough for plenty of games and entertainment and dual heating and cooling units.
A shed built for Parton's nieces and nephews to play in remains. The current owners added the 1,500 sq. ft. guest house, which Rockology notes is perfect for wedding receptions, family reunions or a museum. The company also creatively hints at potential for a bigger project, noting "the adjacent woods, part of the compound is conducive to a future cul de sac of three homes (possibly "Dolly Parton Way”?)."
