Gabby Barrett has been named as Radio Disney's latest Next Big Thing featured artist, and she's turning to Taste of Country to break the news exclusively.

The singer shot to national attention when she competed on American Idol in 2018, placing third. Since then she's released several songs and signed with Warner Music Nashville, and the exposure from Radio Disney's Next Big Thing program is just one more stepping stone in a burgeoning career.

According to a press release, "NBT is a multiplatform talent program that puts the spotlight on breakout artists and showcases their journey to success." Barrett will be featured in a series of exclusive videos that will air via Radio Disney as well as the Disney Channel, the Radio Disney app, the DisneyNOW app and across various social media platforms.

Some of the biggest artists across genres of contemporary music have been featured as part of Radio Disney's NBT program in the past, including Grammy-nominated country singer Kelsea Ballerini.

Barrett's debut single, "I Hope," recently hit No. 1 on Radio Disney Country's Top 50 chart, and she performed it live as part of a medley at the ARDYs: A Radio Disney Musical Celebration in June. The singer recently released a new single, "The Good Ones," which was inspired by her fiancee, Cade Foehner. The couple met during their run on American dol together, and they are engaged to be married.

Barrett is currently working on her full-length debut album with Grammy-nominated producer Ross Copperman. She will headline a string of her own shows this summer as well as opening shows for Jake Owen, Toby Keith, Chris Lane and Jimmie Allen.
