Billings Turkey Run Brings the Fun Thanksgiving Morning

Thanksgiving morning in downtown Billings is about to get a whole lot more fun, festive, and meaningful. The 15th Annual Run! Turkey Run! is set for Thursday, November 27, 2025, and whether you’re a seasoned runner, a casual stroller, or just there for the post race snacks, there’s a place for you.

This event is more than just a race, it's a way for the community to come together, burn off a few calories before the big meal, and raise funds for local organizations fighting hunger. It’s family friendly, full of energy, and open to all ages and experience levels.

Choose Your Distance and Make Every Step Count

Participants can register for either the 5K or the Street Mile, or both. The 5K will begin at 9:00 a.m. and wrap up by 10:15 a.m., while the Street Mile starts at 10:00 a.m. and ends by 10:30 a.m. The cost for each race is $25, and there are discounted rates for children and seniors to help make it easier for families to participate together.

Children aged 0 to 3 run free, kids 4 to 6 can register for $15, and kids 7 to 18 for $20. Seniors aged 65 and older also pay $25. Prices will go up after August 31, 2025, so early registration is encouraged to save money. Planning to run both events? You’ll get $10 off your total, and if you refer five people, you’ll earn a $20 refund through your personal referral link.

Come in Costume and Join the Fun

One of the highlights of Run! Turkey Run! is the costume contest, and it’s open to everyone who wants to get a little creative. Runners, walkers, and spectators are all encouraged to show up in their most festive, funny, or clever attire. The judging will happen near the beer garden at 8:30 AM, and the winners will be announced shortly after the Mile race wraps up around 10:30 a.m. Whether you’re dressing up as a turkey, a pilgrim, or something totally unexpected, you just might walk away with a prize.

Score a Long Sleeve Shirt When You Register Early

Every registered participant has the option to receive a long sleeve race t-shirt, but supplies are limited. If you want to guarantee your size and availability, be sure to register by October 31, 2025. Prefer to skip the shirt? You can select the “No Shirt” option during registration and save $5, a nice perk for those who already have a drawer full of race tees or want to keep things simple.

Enjoy Post Race Snacks, Drinks, and a Beer Garden

Once you’ve crossed the finish line, stick around for a well earned reward. There will be hot drinks like coffee and hot chocolate, a selection of snacks, and for participants 21 and older, a beer garden featuring local microbrews. Make sure to bring your ID if you plan to enjoy the beer garden. It’s a great way to relax, mingle, and celebrate the morning with friends, family, and fellow runners.

Indoor Family Fun at Wise Wonders

If you’re bringing little ones or looking for a place to warm up, the Wise Wonders Science & Discovery Museum will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. This hands on museum is packed with fun, interactive exhibits for kids of all ages, and it’s the perfect pre or post race stop to keep the whole family entertained.

Celebrate Top Finishers With Age Group Awards

For those feeling competitive, awards will be given out to the top three finishers in 5-year age groups. Whether you're aiming for a personal best or just want to cheer on your fellow runners, the awards ceremony is a fun part of the day and a great way to celebrate the effort everyone puts in.

Run! Turkey Run! keeps things budget-friendly so that more families can join in the fun. With free registration for kids under 3, and low prices for children and teens, it's a smart way to make memories without breaking the bank.

Seniors aged 65 and older also enjoy a reduced rate, and families have the option to skip the t-shirt and save a few more dollars. Members of the Yellowstone Rim Runners even receive 20% off, as long as their membership is current on race day.

Together, We Can Out Run Hunger

Since it began in 2011, Run! Turkey Run! has raised over $451,000 for local hunger relief efforts. The event is organized entirely by a dedicated team of volunteers, and 100% of donations and net proceeds go directly to nonprofit organizations serving the Billings community.

This year’s beneficiaries include Meals on Wheels (Allies in Aging), Family Service, Inc., the Food Insecurity Programs supported by the Education Foundation for Billings Public Schools, the MSUB Yellowjacket Emergency Pantry, and the Rocky Mountain College Bear Cupboard.
