Playful Pup ‘Articus’ is Billings’ Featured Wet Nose Wednesday Pet
The American Kennel Club lists the dominant traits of the husky as, "loyal, outgoing, mischievous" and this week's featured pet from Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter seems to check those boxes.
Meet 'Articus'.
This playful dog is about one year old and is a Siberian Husky mix (mostly Husky, it appears). He's lean and lanky, weighs 52 pounds, and has beautiful markings. He told me not to laugh at his somewhat scruffy appearance, as he's currently in the process of blowing out his winter coat. I thought he looks a lot like a coyote.
He's back at YVAS for the second time in his young life, no fault of his own.
Tiffany Smith, YVAS Development Director, told us that Articus originally arrived at the shelter with his litter mates as a baby. The puppies were very skittish, undersocialized, and in kind of rough shape. YVAS nursed them back to emotional and physical health and all of the litter got adopted.
Sadly, this handsome fella's adoptive owner encountered health issues and was no longer able to properly care for Articus. Now he's back at YVAS and is ready for his new forever home.
He calls this look "blue steel."
According to YVAS, Articus gets along well with other dogs, tolerates cats, and is good with children. Husky-mix dogs are typically high-energy and love to explore, so a securely fenced yard is probably a good idea. Huskies are part of the working dog class (the breed is frequently used as sled dogs) and this pup would do well with an active schedule. Here's his link at YVAS.
