20 years ago Josh Hyland had a choice. A young soldier who was new to the unit came up to the Lieutenant. Sir- can I go on the mission kicking in the door chasing down the bad guy, and will you go on the mission delivering school supplies to kids.

The Army Lieutenant happily granted the young soldiers request. And it was on the mission to deliver school supplies to local kids that eventually took the life of Missoula, Montana's own Josh Hyland- someone who re-joined the military after 9/11.

Josh's son Dylan and Josh's widow Lanie joined us at the top of Washington Grizzly Stadium Friday morning during our Military Alumni Reunion broadcast where we remembered Lt. Hyland and his family's sacrifice for our country back in August of 2005. (The group photo shows the Hyland family along with classmates and cadre who were at UM with Lt. Hyland back in the day)

We also got to hear the incredible story of Ennis, Montana's Dick Barr, a Navy veteran who told the story of his gunship being shot down in Vietnam, and the Navy SEAL who killed over two dozen enemy fighters. (Check out the audio at the end of both the 8a and 9a hours below)

By the way, as you can see in the photos below- we also got to catch up with the commander and the crew of the USS Montana on game day in Missoula. We will feature those interviews coming up on Monday. Also below are photos from the 9/11 remembrance ceremonies at the state capitol in Helena, along with 9/11 ceremonies at UM and at Rose Park in Missoula.
