Sam Hunt to Co-Headline Super Bowl 50 Tailgate Party
Sam Hunt’s whirlwind journey to being one of country’s top acts just got even crazier. The singer was booked to co-headline the official televised tailgate party at Super Bowl 50!
The event takes place between 2PM and 6PM ET during CBS’s Super Bowl Today program, with the headlining performances from Hunt and nineties pop star Seal rounding out the day-before kickoff.
Having played college football himself, Hunt must be particularly excited for the honor to play at Levi’s Stadium in San Francisco before the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers face off for the title. Kickoff for the game is at 6:30PM ET.
Hunt was also recently tapped to sing alongside superstar Carrie Underwood at the upcoming 2016 Grammy Awards on Feb. 15, at which he is nominated for Best Country Album for Montevallo, as well as the all-genre category Best New Artist.
It’s no wonder the 'newcomer' is being selected for such honors, as his record has become one of the most unique and celebrated in country music in the past year. It has been certified double-platinum by the RIAA and earned Hunt an American Music Award for the all-genre New Artist of the Year category.
Hunt is working on writing for a new record, and he’s slated to appear at Bonnaroo this summer and on select dates of Kenny Chesney’s Spread the Love Tour. His single “Break Up in a Small Town” has reached No. 2 on both the Billboard Country Airplay and Hot Country Songs charts.
