Sandra Bullock Says She Won’t Return For ‘The Heat 2′
'The Heat' was one of this summer's surprise hits making over $200 million worldwide. Almost immediately a writer was hired to write 'The Heat 2' and a sequel was in motion, but Fox forgot one important thing: asking Sandra Bullock if she had interest in returning. The Oscar-winning actress flatly told The Wrap at the 'Gravity' premiere in Los Angeles, "I’m not doing a sequel to 'The Heat.'"
Costing only $40 million, 'The Heat' was a very profitable film for Fox and Katie Dippold was hired to write a sequel with director Paul Feig set to return, but Bullock put the kibosh on those plans. When asked why she wouldn't return, she explained, "I’ve done two sequels. They were horrible."
Those two sequels were 'Speed 2: Cruise Control' and 'Miss Congeniality 2' and she's right, they were both horrible. Now that she's an Oscar-winning actress (who could possibly win another Oscar for her performance in 'Gravity'), Bullock doesn't have to do a sequel just for money.
Bullock added that she loves her 'Heat' co-star Melissa McCarthy and that they are talking about working together on another film that isn't called 'The Heat 2.' "What Melissa and I had was beautiful. We might do another film together."
McCarthy is already re-teaming with Feig for the third time (they previously worked together on 'Bridesmaids') with the female spy comedy 'Susan Cooper' and Bullock is currently working on another sequel, the 'Despicable Me' movie 'Minions.'
