9/11 Remembrance At Yellowstone County Courthouse
This morning, dozens of bikers began a parade style ride to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the September 11 attacks. The parade ended on the courthouse lawn around 12:30 and I was able to catch only the last few minutes. I'm glad I was able to get there in time for a performance of Amazing Grace on the bag pipes. It was a very somber moment and definitely made me take time to not just remember the date, but the feelings from that day.
On the way back to the radio station, I had to explain to my 8 year old what exactly we were remembering. I still try to shield her from the knowledge that there are people in this world capable of that kind of evil, but I decided she's old enough to get the basics of what happened. We'll probably spend some time this afternoon watching some clips from youtube so she has a better understanding of the next 9/11 vigil she attends.
