Actor Alec Baldwin has never been shy in expressing his opinions about politics, and yesterday he took to his Twitter account to slam country star Hank Williams, Jr. for his recent rants against President Obama, calling him a “broken-down, senile, racist coot.”

Williams has made no secret of his extreme distaste for the sitting president, ripping him over and over in interviews and onstage at his concerts. Much of his dislike appears to stem from his belief that President Obama is a Muslim who is against America.

“I mean, the guy is the worst,” Williams said in an interview in July. “Giveaway programs, hates America in the first place, forget about the flag . . . You know, we’ve got a President that does a call to the Quran or Mecca or whatever.”

The entertainer wrote several songs on his newest album ‘Old School, New Rules’ in response to his music being pulled from ‘Monday Night Football’ after he went on ‘Fox & Friends’ and compared the president to Hitler. He has continued to voice his opinions from the stage at several recent concerts in support of that album. “We’ve got a Muslim president who hates farming, hates the military, hates the US and we hate him!” Williams said during an Aug. 17 performance at the Iowa State Fair.

He repeated those remarks over the weekend at a concert in Texas, though as the Huffington Post reports, he added homosexuals to the list of undesirables President Obama supports. “We’ve got a Muslim for a President who hates cowboys, hates cowgirls, hates fishing, hates farming, loves gays, and we hate him,” Williams yelled to enthusiastic cheers.

That was apparently the last straw for Alec Baldwin — an outspoken liberal who has publicly voiced his support for the president. “If Hank Williams Jr wasn’t such a pathetic, wheezing fossil, I’d have a talk with him,” the actor tweeted Tuesday morning.

A couple of minutes later, he added, “I think we need to call Hank Williams Jr what he is…. A broken-down, senile, racist coot.”

Hank Williams Jr. has yet to respond publicly to Baldwin’s comments.
