Blake Shelton Joins Jimmy Fallon, ‘The Voice’ Coaches for Epic Vocal Mashup
Blake Shelton joined voices with Jimmy Fallon and the Roots on Monday (Dec. 10) on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, singing alongside his co-stars from The Voice in an epic a cappella mashup of their hits.
Adam Levine, Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson and even Voice host Carson Daly all got in on the fun, singing songs including Maroon 5’s “She Will Be Loved” and “This Love.” Then the group went into Hudson’s song “Spotlight” before Fallon threw on a cowboy hat and Shelton started singing his hit song “I’ll Name the Dogs.” And just when you thought it couldn’t get much better, Clarkson tore into her hit song “Stronger” before the group meshed all the songs together for one rousing finale.
The stars' faces all appeared inside small boxes that came together to form a larger grid, underscoring the comedy of the piece.
This is not the first time that Fallon and his Roots friends have shown off their musical talents. They have long featured songs played on childhood instruments in segments, and they've also used the same Brady Bunch-esque grid for mashups featuring Paul McCartney, One Direction and Ariana Grande.
Shelton and his fellow coaches are currently appearing on the final episodes of The Voice before the season finale. Shelton will serve as the host of a new Elvis Presley tribute special that's coming to television in 2019.
He's also set to embark on his 18-date “Friends and Heroes 2019” tour run alongside special guests Lauren Alaina, the Bellamy Brothers, John Anderson and Trace Adkins in 2019. The tour will begin on Feb. 14 in Oklahoma City.
