Carrie Underwood Talks Beauty, Her Style Icons and Healthy Eating
Carrie Underwood is getting ready to perform at the Nordstrom Symphony Fashion Show, a sold-out event that will take place at Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center on Feb. 28. The show, which will feature an exclusive presentation of Oscar de la Renta’s Pre-Fall 2012 collection, will also showcase a performance by Underwood. In a recent interview with Nashville’s NFocus magazine, Underwood dished a bit on her favorite designers, her style muses and how she stays fit and glowing despite her hectic schedule.
When asked what feeds her internal glow and keeps her happy and serene, Underwood says it’s all about squeezing in a little time for herself. “My life can get pretty crazy at times,” she admits. “I try to make sure I get a little ‘me time’ on a daily basis. Whether it’s that hour in the morning when I get to work out, getting a pedicure, or just getting to spend some alone time with my husband, every day should have a time that’s just for me.”
Even though the starlet says she loves to change up the designers she wears, when she has a day off she reveals she’s not about spending that time glitzing up. Instead, she sticks to a simple beauty regimen and says her favorite not-dressy clothes are sweatpants and a T-shirt. “I don’t want to spend my days ‘off’ getting ready for life, so when getting ready, the quicker, the better!” she emphasizes. “I try to get a good night’s sleep, work out, shower, throw some quick make-up on, take a quick curling iron to my hair, and off we go!”
Speaking of her own style icons, Underwood lists women like Charlize Theron and Reese Witherspoon, saying, “They are beautiful, but in a natural way. They look like they take care of themselves but don’t do anything too crazy. They always look and act classy.”
To maintain her figure and keep her perfect poise and posture, the ‘Undo It’ singer spills, “I do my best to eat healthy and work out. I am a vegan, so that certainly helps. It’s hard to be vegan and not stay pretty lean. As far as posture goes, I could certainly work on that. It’s easy to stand up straight when I know the camera is pointed at me but I will see pictures of myself when I’m caught off-guard and realize how slumped over I am.”
And when she’s on the road and has to grab a quick bite, Underwood says her go-to snacks are “almonds, apples, dried fruit (with no added sugar…don’t understand why they add sugar to fruit), raw fruit and nut bars, maybe a few squares of super dark chocolate, and veggies and hummus.” No wonder she says so beautiful and lean!
