It certainly is a big week when you can celebrate one of the fondest memories of growing up...school lunch.

Believe it or not this week is "National School Lunch Week".  When President Harry Truman signed the National School Lunch Act into law in 1946, he probably didn't imagine that American schools would one day be serving chicken fingers, frozen French fries and soggy pizza.

What are some of the "most memorable" lunches you can remember being served?  It seemed the trend at the school I attended was to "recycle meats" as much as possible.  That meant on the first day of the week being served salisbury steak, the next day it would turn into a hamburger, by the 3rd day of the week that burger would be ground to go into chili, and on, and on, and on.

When it comes to celebrities, what are their favorite lunch foods?

  • Tori Spelling (reality TV star of Oxygen's "Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood") - Hot dogs. Apparently her mom would take a thermos and put boiling water in it and put the hot dog in there to keep it warm.
  • Henry Winkler (now and forever The Fonz from "Happy Days") - Tuna on Wonder bread with pickles and mayo.
  • Ryan Seacrest ("American Idol" host ) - Peanut butter with honey on wheat bread.  Apparently he wasn't a huge fan of the weekly cafeteria lunch of sloppy joes and tater tots.
