Let me start out by saying that I will be donating tomorrow.  Not only will it potentially save three lives,  but also it sets me up to make the "If I can do it, you can do it" argument.

This is the "Don't Be A Chicken Blood Drive" happening at Vitalant (formerly United Blood Services) tomorrow, June 6th, at their offices at 1444 Grand Ave.  They know there are plenty of compassionate people who are willing to give their time to help others, but aren't to thrilled about needles.  Well, I'm right there with you.  I don't have a phobia about needles, but it's not something I would volunteer for under normal circumstances.  These, however, aren't "normal circumstances".  These are often life and death situations and since someday me, or someone I love, might be in need of blood, I feel it only fair that I contribute to the supply while I can do so.

If you've never donated, I think you'll find it's not nearly as scary as your brain has convinced you of.  I encourage you to face your fears and use the knowledge that you may literally be saving the life of another human being as a motivator (it's a powerful one).

As a bonus, Buffalo Wild Wings will be providing free wings!  Cat Country will be broadcasting live from noon 'til 2.  If you can make it during the broadcast, I'd love to meet you.  If you can't get down there in that 2 hour window, remember that the blood drive goes from 11 a.m. 'til 6 p.m., so get there when you can.

See you tomorrow, hero!
