FOX’s ‘Gotham’ Finds Its Young Bruce Wayne and Catwoman!
FOX's forthcoming Batman prequel series 'Gotham' recently turned a few heads with suggestions that its young Bruce Wayne could be joined by an early Catwoman/Selina Kyle appearance, and at long last both roles have been cast. 'Touch' star David Mazouz will play a young Bruce Wayne, while Camren Bicondova landed the role of young pickpocket Selina Kyle!
We'd been waiting for news of Wayne's casting, as the last known role to be cast from FOX's DC drama, though rumblings that young Selina Kyle would pop up only emerged recently. Described as "serious and soulful," Mazouz's young Bruce Wayne relies on the guidance and protection of Alfred Pennyworth ('Elementary' star Sean Pertwee), as well as rookie James Gordon ('Southland' star Ben McKenzie).
As for Catwoman, 'Gotham' will introduce dancer Bicondova as a “teenage orphan who is suspicious and wholly unpredictable; a street thief and skilled pickpocket, she’s dangerous when cornered.” We'd heard that the character would at least appear in the pilot, along with the Riddler and several other famous Bat-rogues, but it remains unclear how often Selina Kyle will be featured going forward.
FOX’s ‘Gotham’ will explore “the origin stories of Commissioner James Gordon and the villains that made Gotham famous,” with its pilot supposedly featuring Gordon’s investigation of the murders of Thomas and Martha Wayne. The pilot will also be written and executive produced by ‘The Mentalist”s Bruno Heller, along with Warner Bros. Television, and directed by ‘Judge Dredd’ helmer Danny Cannon. It has been confirmed that ‘Gotham’ will not have any direct ties to Ben Affleck‘s take on the Dark Knight for ‘Man of Steel’ follow-up film ‘Batman vs. Superman‘ or The CW’s ‘Arrow‘ series.
Cast in other known roles thus far are Donal Logue as Detective Harvey Bullock, Jada Pinkett Smith as gangster FIsh Mooney, Drew Powell as her associate Butch Gilzean, ‘Burn Notice‘ star Zabryna Guevara as Gordon’s GCPD boss Captain Essen, and Erin Richards as Gordon’s fiancée Barbara Kean.
We're still keeping cautions of 'Gotham,' but in the meantime, what say you? Do David Mazouz and Camren Bicondova look like they have what it takes to bring a young Batman and Catwoman to life? Tell us what you'd like to see from FOX's 'Gotham' in the comments!
