HBO Ryan Murphy Pilot ‘Open’ Adds ‘Fringe’ Star Anna Torv and Jennifer Jason Leigh
HBO's forthcoming Ryan Murphy sexuality series 'Open' already had a notable bit of buzz in casting both 'The Hunger Games' star Wes Bentley and Scott Speedman, but its latest castings should really bring in the 'Fringe.' Former FOX fox Anna Torv has officially joined the HBO pilot alongside actress Jennifer Jason Leigh, but who might the pair play?
In a move destined to explode the brains of 'Fringe' fans everywhere, Torv will take the role of Windsor, “a yoga instructor in a long-term relationship with Holly (Jennifer Jason Leigh), but upon meeting [as-yet-uncast] Grace feels an instant connection.”
Torv and Leigh join Wes Bentley and Scott Speedman in the “modern, provocative exploration of human sexuality and relationships” written by ‘Dexter‘ co-executive producer Lauren Gussis. HBO’s ‘Open’ sees Bentley in the role of the “handsome but arrogant” Evan Foster, a blowhard who loves espousing his own theories on human sexuality in all its forms and practice, while Speedman portrays Jonathan, a handsome sports marketing executive.
“Gary (Newman), Bert (Salke) and I have been looking for the right opportunity to be in business with HBO for awhile, and this show represents the exact right opportunity,” said 20th Century Fox TV Chairman Dana Walden of the pay-cable network’s pilot commitment order. “Its provocative storytelling and Ryan’s trademark production values and rich, layered characters make it a perfect fit for the HBO brand.”
We'll keep up with 'Open' to see if HBO opts to bring the sexuality drama to series, but what say you? Will Anna Torv and Jennifer Jason Leigh make good additions to the series, the former in her first premium cable role?
