It’s A Sad Day For Aliens
It's a sad day for me today. This will seem silly to most, but it's really sad for me.
If any of you remember the TV sitcom ALF from the 80's you know what I'm talking about.
ALF the fun loving Alien Life Form from Melmac has died.
Well, ALF has partcially died.
For those of you who didn't know about the character and who was really inside that furry suit, it was actor Michu Meszaros.
Meszaros was a circus star who played "ALF" for four seasons.
According to TMZ, he had been rushed to an L.A. hospital over a week ago after being found unresponsive at his home and had been in a coma since.
Michu, who was only 33 inches tall coining him the unofficial title as "the smallest man on earth." was born in Hungary and began performing in the circus in his teens, eventually joined Ringling Bros. Barnum and Bailey Circus in the '70s.
He landed the role of the walk around ALF in the '80s.
Michu was the actor inside the ALF suit when you saw ALF walking around, but Paul Fusco was the voice, creator, and puppeteer of ALF.
I would like to be able to say I grew up with the sitcom ALF, but really I was already 21 when the first episode aired. I did however fall in love with ALF and his sharp wit and funny antics.
I am 50 years old (yes I said 50) and I still have my ALF coffee mug from 1986, and yes I still occasionally use it.
There has been a GoFundMe page set up for Meszaros to help pay for funeral costs and medical bills.
Michu Meszaros was 76.
