This Popular Montana Road Preparing For Opening Day
Like most of you, and the tourists, I am so looking forward to the opening of lots of "Montana" things.
Pretty soon Montana will be full of people camping, site seeing, hiking, and driving some of the most beautiful highways in the U.S.
One of the most popular highways in Montana, is in Red Lodge. We wait all winter for Memorial Day weekend to finally arrive in hopes of Beartooth Highway being on track to open.
Typically Beartooth Highway is open the Friday of Memorial Day weekend, weather permitting obviously, and this year it seems like luck will be on our side. With a slightly more mild Montana winter than usual, the highway is set to open accordingly.
It takes numerous days and hours of hard work clearing the road in hopes of opening by Memorial Day weekend every year. Check out this super cool video of just some of the work put in, on the highway. SO much snow still!
Beartooth Highway is 69 miles long if you are planning to take the scenic drive. It will take you approximately 2 hours to drive through the "Highway To The Sky". Take your time and enjoy the scenery and fresh air.
You will be climbing to over 10,000 feet above sea level once it is all said and done and I guarantee you will be talking about it for the rest of your life.
Grab some snacks and take the short road trip to Beartooth Highway, you won't be disappointed.
