Here in Montana, it is pretty darn important you have a sweet set of skills. Including how to read a map and various handyman skills. How to cook and tell time are just a must no matter where you live.
Generational squabbling is fun. Older folks love complaining about how kids these days wouldn't be able to function back in the day. While the younger generations whine about how Boomers aren't able to fully function these days with all the technology.

Young people who have mostly only used phones haven't the slightest idea where a file went if they downloaded it or what to do with a PDF.
