Kenny Chesney took the stage last night (May 13) at the House of Blues in New Orleans, La. in support of the third annual Amazing Race charity event, a staple evening for the Brees Dream Foundation. New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees and wife Britney joined the superstar for the goodwill effort.

“We’ve been in tour rehearsals for weeks now so it was great for us to get on stage and feel the energy and feedback from the crowd,” Chesney said of the event (quote via Sony Music Nashville). “Tonight was all about playing music to help celebrate this great event.  People in this town love music and helping out their neighbor and I was glad to be a part of it.”

The intimate backdrop of the historic venue offered the perfect setting, with a lucky auction bidder taking the stage with the country superstar after shelling out a generous $10,000 to perform Chesney’s No. 1 hit ‘Somewhere With You.’ The evening concluded when Chesney, Brees and actor Matthew McConaughey united on stage for an encore performance of Chesney’s hit ‘The Boys of Fall.’

This year’s event partnered with the Just Keep Livin Foundation, which was co-founded by McConaughey and fiancée Camila Alves, and provided donations to after school fitness and wellness programs in the New Orleans area. All proceeds will benefit the charities, as well as go towards providing care, education and opportunities for children and families in Louisiana and the Gulf Coast.

“Kenny has been a dear friend and always expressed interest in working with the foundation,” said both Brees and McConaughey. “This is such a wonderful way to end the race and his support means the world to us.”

After wrapping his charitable efforts, Chesney resumed preparations for his Brothers of the Sun Tour, his joint effort with friend and fellow country superstar, Tim McGraw. The all-stadium outing will kick off in Tampa, Fla. on June 2 — only weeks before Chesney’s highly-anticipated 13th studio album, ‘Welcome to the Fishbowl,’ hits store shelves and digital retailers on June 19.
